Tiring the heart--
mountains and ocean
too much beauty

cool rain
on the surface of the pond
yellow petals
the plum tree
already in bloom
white honesty
as pearls
as stars
as tiny Suns on forest floor
as Spring – yes as Spring

Cheshire smile recalls
a near embrace with Venus
lunar abandon
cherry blossom
in the front garden
next door's cat

..resounding

he persevered
and soon enough the lilacs of
spring rose
with the effortless calm
the blue of sky resounds

cherry tree
promises spring blossom
crocuses fade
night screams
resolve as cats fighting
sleep, interrupted

at our first
floor window – the tree
we planted
to remember Michael
is blooming now

spikes of morning frost
pick out an old teddy bear
slivers of sunshine
along the riverside
Lenten robes
of purple lilac

Festival of colors

festival of colors
the flowering trees in the city park
coming to bloom
summer sun
on early day release
a bowl of tulips
football in the park  -
daffodils and croci
proud in their colours
misty morning
a haze of willow green
two sparrows

dew-drops falling down

dew-drops falling down
tulips and daffodils…
morning pearls of dawn

on a chimney pot
a magpie's twiglet nest
morning calls
a cornflower
in a gap between bricks
overwintering snails
red tulips
among the bare-branched shrubs
blackbirds
through the woods
daffodils
lighting the way
sparrow
drinks from water bucket
morning sun
a chaffinch
emboldened by green willow
morning pleasantries

in a cold morning

in a cold morning
my thoughts melted the snow...
it's already spring

incessant rain
makes streams of gutters
the cat checks both doors
currant flowers
show pink on bare branches
blind tulip leaves
swallows
black spots against the clouds
willow leaves
the mist
smells like old tar
streetlights dim

..the parade

I'm waiting
for the St. Patrick's Day parade
for spring
is always a blink away...
or ten tablespoons of olive oil

velvet sky
highlighting different calls
dawn chorus
naturalised daffodils
under a monochrome canopy
willow buds
solar lights
twinkle in the garden
wood smoke
pink-tinged clouds
as the gloaming settles
raucous crows
cold winds
bring a canopy of cloud
white gulls circle
compost worms
busy with the kitchen scraps
urban fox

..colors

color me harp
winglike embrace let surface
is it a quiver next
to grow its fraction
spring's equanimity bedazzles

a thrush
hops across the lawn
sparrows mob the fat balls
hidden birds
in the hedgerow
rain drops

..snowflake

a rare
snowflake just breezed by
not wary of spring

chirping thrush
the cherry tree
in flower
sunshine
through the open window
the cat, hungry
tractor and plough
pull black furrow
gulls expectations scream
morning rain
a thousand rings on the pond
that wet dog smell

slowly snow piercing

slowly snow piercing
snowdrops appear...
first heralds of spring

finally spring

fading moonlight
caresses the fragile blossoms
finally spring

finally spring
the cold dark winter says his farewell
clump of snowdrops

clump of snowdrops
beneath the the fragile cherry blossom
fading moonlight
morning rain
puts an end to sunny days
sullen crows
transitions

gnarled drooping oak limb
softly the gray mist gathers
to enshroud you

bold bright birch
limbs outstretched against the night
lifts up the darkness

early spring morning

early spring morning
longing to see the cherry blossoms
smell their perfume
a hint of yellow
behind the canopy of grey
black crows
sparrow song
eases me out of sleep
rooftop pigeons
